Over the past three decades, I have trained more than four million people, sharing with them many intimate details about my life. However, I have never shared the fact that I was a child of domestic violence. And, if I had not met Brian Martin, I don’t know if I would have.

Tony Robbins

This book is a gift for anyone who grew up living with domestic violence or for anyone who cares about someone who did. It is the first of its kind. It distills the body of knowledge we now have on this subject, and offers a hand to those who want to change their journey.

This is a unique book filled with inspiring and positive suggestions for adults seeking to overcome the harmful effects of exposure to domestic violence during childhood. It is solidly based on research findings but written in a straightforward way that is readily accessible to readers. I highly recommend it.

INVINCIBLE offers a combination of personal accounts blended with evidence-based facts that combine to produce hope for the many who have grown up with domestic violence. It is also an important guidebook to help people who care about young people to compassionately encourage and support them on their journey to make peace with the past and believe in the future.

Filled with vivid emotion, it is attention grabbing and revealing giving us insight into the world of CDV… INVINCIBLE will be a valuable tool for our staff and NYC’s most vulnerable population its children. This book provides a new and unique approach, research based and proven messages that actually work. As part of the staff of the NYC Administration for Children’s services I’m grateful to CDV for this opportunity to be involved on the ground level of this project.

INVINCIBLE will have an immediate impact on outreach and on our attempts to create bonds in the communities surrounding our churches, as well as within the existing memberships.

INVINCIBLE is poignant, challenging, illuminating, and compassionate – all at the same time. Brian does a fantastic job of illustrating points with real-life stories and a fresh perspective. The book goes way beyond describing the issue; it provides clear insight into the thinking and behavior patterns that result from these experiences. Readers are not alone.

Brian Martin’s narrative INVINCIBLE gives hard evidence that, for children growing up with violence, history need not be destiny. This inspirational story provides great hope by showing us that resilience is a process we nurture in ourselves, not an inborn characteristic we have no control over. Bravo, Brian!

There are children in every school who are living with domestic violence, and there are many staff and parents in those communities who grew up in similar homes themselves. INVINCIBLE has great potential to assist those in leadership positions with helping all who have been affected by childhood domestic violence heal and thrive, creating healthier, happier individuals and communities.

INVINCIBLE is a very compelling book about growing up with domestic violence. It would truly benefit anyone that grew up living with domestic violence, helping them heal as they recognize themselves in what others have gone through and how they were able to overcome their fears and anxieties. Most everyone either grew up with domestic violence or knows someone who did – either a family member or friend. INVINCIBLE touched me very much and I can’t wait to share it with others.

After reading INVINCIBLE, I was struck by the sheer magnitude of children and adults whose lives are impacted by domestic violence. As a lifelong educator, I wonder how many children passed through my classroom as silent sufferers or children acting out in order to exert some measure of control in their lives. While written for those who grew up with domestic violence, this book is a valuable tool for those working with children— teachers, social workers, health care workers. Brian Martin writes of “the one” who can make a difference in the lives of children growing up in a home with domestic violence. By understanding the lies that children grow up believing about themselves, we might better help them understand that they deserve to be loved and respected. The stories will touch your heart and if nothing else will make you aware of this huge crisis facing our children throughout the world.
