A young girl in Australia wrote a letter to her local politicians to get domestic violence addressed in the school system. Her father was abusive, and after her mother’s suicide, she felt that if she had had some training, or if her mother had some awareness that it might have turned out differently. In response to her letter and an online petition, the public school system instituted a series of reforms, giving teachers training and materials to address the problem and to talk about coping strategies.
