For Traumatized Children, An Offer Of Help From The Muppets

For children growing up with Childhood (CDV) and other Adverse Childhood Experiences(ACE’s), seeing their favorite TV characters process “big feelings” (such as anger, anxiety, and sadness) can help them learn by example to cope better. These healthy coping mechanisms are exactly what Sesame Street is trying to instill in pre-school-aged children with their new initiative, Sesame Street in Communities.
Free online resources that are tailored to young children are available to caregivers to help facilitate conversations in an age-appropriate and productive way. These “workshops” include videos and color-able printouts with vital information.
