‘Handle With Care’: In new program teachers are taught to see signs of childhood trauma and give proactive attention

A new program in the West Virginia school system lets teachers know when officers responded to a 911 call and a child was involved or a witness. No details about the crime are relayed to the teachers, just that the student needs to be handled with care, and are not put under additional stress at school in the days after a traumatic event.
